Hamirpur. Bharat Bandh remained ineffective in the district on Monday. Only a few inter-state bus routes remained closed in the district and CITU demonstrated at the district headquarters. Apart from this, neither there was any road jam nor shops were closed in the district for the Bharat Bandh. On Monday morning, buses going to Chandigarh were sent till Una. Whereas buses going to Amritsar and Ludhiana were not sent on the routes.
The call for Bharat Bandh was only till 4 pm, so the HRTC management left the bus going from Hamirpur to Haridwar at 12:40. Which left Una bus stand at 3.30 pm. After this, the corporation sent buses on all inter-state routes. However, private and government buses ply on all local routes and passengers were also packed in them. Passengers were also rarely found in the morning to go on interstate routes. CITU demonstrated in favor of this Bharat Bandh at the district headquarters.
Devraj, in-charge of the bus stand, Hamirpur, said that buses were not sent on some routes in the morning. Whereas in the evening there were buses on the routes. All local routes remain smooth. DDM Vivek Lakhanpal said that most of the passengers going on inter-state routes had already called the office and inquired about the buses. In the absence of information, few passengers would have to wait at the bus stand. In the afternoon all the routes were restored.
