Hundreds of students of the last semester have given research eligibility test for PhD from CU, but the dream of the students may be shattered due to non-declaration of results by the state university. Hundreds of students doing post-graduation from HPU in Chemistry, Physics, Hindi, English, Management, Journalism and Botany and other subjects are repeatedly demanding from the central university to extend the date of verification of documents.
The Central University had taken the research eligibility test on September 3. The result was declared on 10 September. After this, the students who passed the eligibility test were given time from September 11 to October 25 to get the verification of postgraduate, reserved category and other documents done. This date of verification is now ending on Monday.
The officials of the Central University argue that it is difficult to extend the date of verification. In November 2019 also, the Central University Dharamshala has already taken the research eligibility entrance examination. Due to Corona, admissions in PhD could not be done in the previous years. The research eligibility test is valid for two years.
There are also students who have cleared JRF and NET exams. If there is a delay in the verification of documents, then for two years, dozens of students can be excluded from the recognition of the eligibility test. Students of State University Shimla, who have passed the research eligibility test, have appealed to Union Minister Anurag Thakur and the government to find a proper solution to this problem.
On the other hand, Dr. Vishal Sood, Registrar of CU Dharamsala said that Monday is the last day for verification of documents for Ph.D. The students who have passed the PG examination and fulfill all the qualifications are eligible for admission in Ph.D. Worrying about the future of the students who have passed the eligibility test in 2019, it is difficult to extend the date of verification of documents, because when the State University Shimla will declare the result is not yet decided.
